Help Haiti Earthquake Victims by Making a Donation

As we all know, Haiti was hit by a devastating earthquake. Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital city is said to be "flattened," and officials are saying that the number of dead may top 100,000. Our company has a number of people very close to us with Haitian roots and family members are missing at this moment (including my daughter´s great-grandmother). The mother of one of my staff, who was visiting her family, was injured when the family home completely collapsed. The family was forced to flee to higher ground and emergency evacuation has been set up with the help of the Canadian Embassy in Haiti; unfortunately, as of this time we do not know her exact location norhave been able to re-establish communications. We have launched a special SEO website at http://www.helphaitiearthquakevictims.com/ as well as a sponsor page at Mercy Corps at http://www.mercycorps.org/fundraising/seointernet who is deploying a team of relief workers to the island to help meet survivors' most urgent needs, like shelter, food and clean water. Donations can be made to either site.

All money raised through the SEO website (contribution are made via Paypal) will be specifically used to help to rebuild the collapsed family home of our staff member. We will personally over see this process and make sure that all those who have contributed are kept regularly updated on the progress being made from their generosity.

Thank you so very much and I will keep you posted. NEWS: Nahomies Mother has arrived back in Montreal safe and sound.SEO Expert

Hundreds of thousands of people are feared dead in Haiti after a devastating earthquake shook the nation on January 12, 2010. Watching horrifying images on television of parents searching for their children under the rubble, injured people crying for help, and dead bodies being piled into trucks, most of us have an intense desire to help Haiti earthquake victims. Fortunately, many non-profit organizations have set up donation and update pages on their websites in order to make it easier for you to fulfill that desire and help Haiti earthquake victims. <

Covered in rubble, dead bodies, and panicked people searching for their family members, Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, is currently in a state of utter devastation. Although Haiti is no stranger to hardship, it has never suffered anything quite as devastating as this earthquake. The largest earthquake to hit the nation in 200 years, this 7.0 magnitude quake demolished schools, hospitals, and homes. Important buildings, including the presidential palace and UN headquarters, were destroyed, and although there is still no confirmed death toll available, it is likely to be in the thousands. Officials fear that there are approximately 100,000 people dead, but it’s currently too early to say for sure.

The earthquake’s epicenter was only 16km away from Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince. Port-au-Prince is home to an estimated 2 million people, and the mayor of the city once estimated that 60% of the buildings were shoddy and unstable. As such, it’s no surprise that so many buildings couldn’t withstand the powerful tremors of this earthquake. The earthquake was followed by two strong aftershocks with magnitudes of 5.9 and 5.5. Most people have resorted to sleeping on the streets for fear that other buildings will collapse.

The poorest country in the Western hemisphere, Haiti is simply not equipped to handle such a devastating catastrophe. They do not have the heavy equipment necessary to move debris and there aren’t sufficient emergency assistance personnel. You can help Haiti earthquake victims by making a donation that goes towards sending doctors, nurses, food, medical supplies, and other necessities to Haiti.

Many people are waiting outside of hospitals that were badly damaged in the earthquake in hopes of receiving medical care. Several hospitals in the area collapsed altogether, and President Rene Preval said, “We need medicine. We need medical help in general.” Help Haiti earthquake victims by making a donation. Even a small donation, whatever you can afford, will ultimately help the people of Haiti survive this catastrophe and reconstruct their lives. Eighty percent of Haiti’s population lives in abject poverty, and the majority of victims have lost absolutely everything owing to this earthquake.

There is no running water and electricity in the capital, and the streets of the city at night are in total darkness. There have been reports of looting at night. Thousands of people are running around in the streets, crying and screaming, with nowhere to go. Haiti severely lacks the food, shelter, water, medical supplies, and staff it needs to make it through this catastrophe. Former President Bill Clinton, the UN special envoy to Haiti, said that the most important thing you can do to help Haiti earthquake victims is not to send supplies, but to donate cash to relief agencies. In order to lend a much-needed hand, visit the donation web pages of these reputable non-profit organizations, or click on the Donate Now button in order to donate funds that specifically help the children of Haiti.
